Mays Graduate Programs
Introduction to Overseas Study Opportunites for Masters Business Students: Making a decision to study abroad will be an enriching life experience that you will always remember. This experience will benefit you in many ways, both personally and professionally. Companies value employees with global experience and knowledge of other cultures.
Benefits: When you participate in one of our programs, you will gain both academic and cultural experience that will change your preception of the United States, the world and the way business is conducted globally.
Planning Ahead: If you plan for your study abroad experience early (first or second semester of your program), you should be able to:
- take advantage of Mays and TAMU scholarships to help reduce your cost of studying abroad
- complete the overseas study experience within the MBA/MS program's time frame
Program types: Mays Business School sponsors two types of overseas study opportunities
1. Reciprocal Educational Exchange Programs (REEP) - (Fall/Spring) These programs offer the opportunity for complete "immersion" into a partner country's academic environment and culture. For a semester long exchange program, you will register at TAMU for 9-12 credit hours of IBUS 692 or IBUS 693 course work. You will pay tuition and fees to TAMU and will be exempt from paying tuition and fees to the overseas institution. Initiate plans for paticipating in an exchange program as EARLY as your first year in the masters program. Information on each program is found in the Mays Grad REEP Programs Grid.
STEPS TO APPLY: Start early to plan your program, check for application deadlines and follow the steps below:
- Review the Mays Grad REEP Programs Grid. This includes all Mays REEP programs, and lists the country, schools, semester dates, estimated cost and other information.
- In the grid, you will also find links to the foreign university's website where you will find information about the university, the business school, courses, medium of instruction and more!
- Meet with your Masters Program Advisor (for MS students) or Ms. Jordan Kleckley, Academic Advisor for MBAs in Wehner 390F. Set up an appointment to discuss the nomination and application process, overseas courses that meet your degree plan and the course registration process.
- After you have met with your advisor, arrange an appointment to meet with Dr. Julian Gaspar, Executive Director, CIBS, Wehner 230B.

2. Reciprocal Educational Exchange Programs (REEP) - (Summer) There are currently four summer programs offered by our overseas partner universities which offer international business and culture/economic environment courses. Summer REEP courses generally last for two to six weeks. Your classmates in these programs normally consist of graduate students from other American or international business schools. Because of the varying duration of the programs, the credit hours gained will depend on the respective program (4 credit hours for the 2-week WHU-Otto Beisheim and 3 credit hours for the Guanghua-Peking programs) and (6 credit hours each for the 4-6 week programs at EDHEC and Copenhagen Business School).
