Letter from Dean Strawser

At Mays Business School, we believe that awareness of global issues is just as important as knowledge of accounting, finance, management, marketing, management information systems, or supply chain issues. The mission of the Center for International Business Studies (CIBS) is to provide the resources to students and faculty to facilitate globalization of the learning environment for our students and faculty.

CIBS helps make it possible for all Mays students to acquire knowledge of international business in our courses and to gain the cross-cultural skills and global competence that can only be gained by significant overseas experiences such as study abroad and internships abroad. CIBS' support of Mays faculty research in international business allows our faculty to explore the international dimensions of their disciplines and attain excellence in those dimensions. Evidence of such faculty expertise is the publication of major international business articles in leading academic journals and the fact that Mays is the home of the Journal of International Business Studies-the most prestigious journal for scholars studying international business.

Personally, I couldn't be more excited about the global opportunities facing our students and faculty. My own experiences in international business started later in life, but since that time each trip and each experience has broadened my horizons and expanded my knowledge. I am thrilled that our students have an opportunity to get a head start in this most important area.
