Texas A&M University Profile:

Texas A&M University, located in College Station, Texas was founded in 1876 as Texas' first public institution of higher learning and has grown to a bustling 5,200 acre campus with 48,000-plus students and a nationally recognized faculty.  Texas A&M University is one of a select few universities with land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant designations.  The student body is made up of about 50% men and 50% women and 8,500 are graduate students.  Texas A&M operates branch campuses in Galveston and San Antonio, Texas; Qatar as well as centers in Mexico City and Costa Rica.  This research-intensive flagship university with 10 colleges and a comprehensive Health Science Center consistently ranks among the top public universities for academics and value.  Many degree programs are ranked among the top 10 in the country.  More than 80 percent of the 2,800 faculty members hold doctoral degrees; more than 300 hold endowed professorships or chairs.  The university has an endowment valued at more than $5 billion, which ranks fourth among public universities and 10th overall in the U.S.
