University of South Carolina offers FDIB-Africa Program in May 2012

The Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) - Africa program, in its 6 consecutive year, is offered annually by a consortium of CIBER universities, led and managed by the University of South Carolina CIBER. The program focus on providing participating faculty, business professionals and graduate students a unique international study tour opportunity, which will ultimately assist the U.S. in its global competetiveness via pedagogy, research, business networking and outreach, and academic-business relationship building. The objective of the FDIB-Africa program is to raise faculty, business professionals and graduate student awareness of the economic, political and cultural environments that exist in sub-Saharan African today, and, ultimately, to leverage that first-hand awareness into competence and expertise in the classroom, boardrooms, and research campus and facilities throughout the U.S.

MY INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP - by Chandni Karia

Putra Jaya - Malaysia's version of the Pentagon

Sitting in classrooms learning about different business environments is one thing. Actually working in one of these is a completely different experience. I had the opportunity to participate in the MSC L.T. Jordan Internship and Living Abroad Program in Singapore this past summer. I interned with Straits Law Practice in the heart of the country's business sector and got to put into practice all the things I had learned at Mays. Throughout the program I made lifelong contacts, learned how to adapt to the business culture in Southeast Asia, and was introduced to the cultural differences between the U.S. and Singapore. The exposure I gained helped to shape my future career and who I am as a person. This program was the best of both worlds because along with our internships our group also got to travel to neighboring countries. We surfed in Indonesia, rode elephants in Thailand, and got to visit the Parliament building in Malaysia! I am so grateful that I got the chance to participate in this program because this experience was truly the experience of a life time.  During my internship and travels, I kept a blog, which I invite you to read ... http://ilapsingapore2011.blogspot.com/
